UFO sightings videos - The latest hit or something to take seriously?

Possibly since mankind began to fly himself, around the beginning of the 20th century, the thought has arisen among millions” if we can fly, maybe there are other planets that can do the same.”

Over the years, as the power of flight was developed on Earth and intercontinental flight became routine, and space flight followed, more and more people became convinced that contact was being made with races of people from other planets. Reports of sightings began to be come commonplace around the nineteen forties and fifties. Since that time, rumors have circulated that a space craft of some sort actually crash landed in Roswell, New Mexico.

This incident has been the subject of much rumor and speculation till this day.

US authorities have widely reported that something did land in Roswell on that day, but it was in actual fact a huge balloon launched by the Department of Defense to carry out “top secret” research in the area.  What sparked of the huge “hoo-hah” about alien landings were reports of strange lights and sounds in the sky over Roswell by the local residents. Unfortunately there is no photographic evidence available of this, the most important and intriguing rumor regarding contact from outer space.

In recent years, photographic evidence has become much more commonplace. A great big question mark hangs over the whole concept of sighting of unidentified flying objects (UFO’s). Since the mid nineteen fifties, people have been producing still photographs and even some fairly primitive 8mm films, showing something that could possibly be identified as a space ship or a “flying saucer” as they were knows in those days. If there was someone who could calculate the statistical possibilities of sighting a UFO while walking around with a camera in their hand, and even more so, a movie camera, the odds would run into several trillion. Especially during the era form the fifties till the end of the twentieth century.

Nowadays, thanks to developments in digital technology, just about every one is walking around with a 3rd generation mobile phone in their pocket. These phones can take excellent still photographs and even movies. It goes without saying that someone  who is fortunate top have a digital camera on them when the neighbours from the planet next door come to call, will have a tremendous opportunity to capture high quality images of UFO’s as they hover overhead.

The cynics among us would ask why these space craft always fly over the United States, or at least in Europe. Their detractors would say that maybe UFO’s also fly low over remote places in Africa, Eastern Europe or even Australia, in their mission to observe our planet.  It’s just that no one was walking past at the time with a digital camera or mobile phone of capture these images.

One of the most recent occurred in January of 2008 over the small Texan town of Stephenville. Residents of this small and sleepy community, who certainly don’t appear to be the types to fabricate or exaggerate report seeing a craft that was almost one mile wide hovering over the town as well as some of the farms surrounding it. One of the locals did manage to capture the image flying past on his mobile phone. Compared to the “Haiti videos” these images are pretty primitive and could be interpreted as any kind of object. What adds more credibility to this sighting is the simple honesty of these people in this Texan town. What would they have to gain by lying or exaggerating?  On the other hand, why would an object so large not have been spotted all over the south and not just in this sleepy little town?

Until anyone can prove differently, the debate as to whether we are alone in this galaxy will continue to excite us all.
