The Rendlesham Forest Incident: Even the British May Have Welcomed Some UFOs For Afternoon Tea!

The British are famous for keeping a “stiff upper lip” under the strongest pressure, so when they start denying about meeting craft from another galaxy, you have to sit up and take notice.

That is why the incident (or rather series of incidents) that occurred in Rendlesham Forest is one that that has been taken very seriously by UFO trackers from all over the globe. Rendlesham Forest is situated the beautiful county of Suffolk, in Southern England, adjacent to the picturesque county town of Ipswich.  Adding considerable weight to the theory that visitors form other galaxies take a particular interest in specific regions around the World where aerial activity is common is the fact that the forest is situated very close to two very large NATO bases, RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge. The incidents took place on Boxing Day, the 26th December 1980. During this period both the bases were being used by the United States Air Force.

The first sightings were reported by USAF security personnel who reported spotting a large triangular object hovering above the base. Witnesses to the sighting all corroborated each others versions stating that the UFO was about two meters square and emitted an unnaturally strong white light, whilst sending out a red flashing signal from its roof, and several banks of blue lights from underneath the object.  Strangely enough, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding the dates of this first sighting. There are conflicting reports that this first encounter actually took place on the 27th December 1980 in the very small hours of the morning. This inaccuracy has caused much argument and debate regarding the authenticity of the entire incident to this day.

Obviously confused, the witnesses actually reported the incident to the local police, thinking that the object in the sky that they had witnessed was some kind of light commercial aircraft in distress. The local police, obviously delighted to be called out in the middle of a freezing winter night dismissed the incident as some either over excited or slightly exhausted USAF guard spotting the lights of the nearby Orford Ness lighthouse.  When they returned the following day to take statements, the USAF security personnel reported to be taken aback by the reluctance of the British police to take the incident seriously.  Acting of their own volition, some USAF personnel took a trip to the nearby forest where they felt that the UFO might have landed. They were surprised to discover that there were signs of scorching and broken branches on several trees. A sure indication that something of the size of the UFO that had been hovering over the bases had made some kind of landing, or at least had gotten very close to the Earth’s surface. Excited by their find, the USAF personnel again contacted the local police force to report this exciting discovery. Once again they were taken aback to discover that the UK authorities were as equally non committal, coming up with the very lame suggestion that the scorch marks and broken branches must have been caused by some kind of farm animal, probably cattle who were wondering around the forest during the night of the 26th/27th of December.

Even when the USAF personnel returned with radiation detectors to the spot, and discovered some light signs of radiation, they were fobbed of by some other equally plausible reason. At this point the USAF personnel began to realize that they was little point in continuing their dialogue with the British, as there was a very strong indication that they were pretty well aware of what had taken place on that night, but were determined not to admit to the fact.

During the next three days and night, further sightings of a similar nature were witnessed by almost all of the USAF servicemen and women who were stationed at the base. All of the sightings were the same. A large, box like object hovering around the two bases giving of a strong white light.  The UFO’s suddenly ceased their light show around New Year’s Eve and was never seen again, at least by the USAF staff.

No less strange than the incident it is the reluctance of the UK authorities to admit that it ever happened. This leads those who believe that the incident(s) took place that the British had a reason to cover up or at least make light of the incident. There are rumors that the USAF did manage to videotape the craft, and even some kind of landing. To continue along the same lines, it is even rumored that an actual encounter took place and small domed headed creatures carried out a short sign language conversation with the deputy base commander, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Holt. Till this day, almost thirty years later, UK Ministry of Defence refuse to either confirm or deny that the incident ever took place. For that matter, the US authorities have never released the video that they took or any specific information on an alien landing.
