Is the entire UFO and aliens from outer space theory the truth or are we all victims of a massive practical joke?

One of the great mysteries of the twentieth century has been; are we alone on this galaxy?

On one hand it is not realistic to expect that there are aliens from other planets flying around in their own spaceships or UFO’s as we care to call them. These UFO’s have been the subject of rumor and conjecture since the late forties if not before. The famous story of the crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico was the first so-called “sighting” to capture the imagination of America and the rest of the World.

Yet the US Government fervently denied initially that there were any mysterious space craft that crash landed there on the night of July 7th 1947.

Locals in the area rushed to report the sighting of a series of very strong lights in the sky, some very strange, unexplainable noises followed by a loud explosion.

The silence from the US Department of Defense was deafening for quite a few months that grew into years. Eventually almost two years later, they admitted that the “UFO” was in actual a huge hot air balloon that was being used for top level security experimentation high inside the atmosphere that had come plummeting down to Earth.

On one side, the story is believable as the whole desert area around New Mexico has and still is ben used from some fairly “heavy” experimentation over the years. If a space craft from a planet that had flown several million miles land in New Mexico, why not Uzbekistan or some remote part of Africa, where no man has ever set foot.?

On the other hand, why the silence from the US Government? Maybe they were trying to keep their already sensitive relationship with the USSR under control, and were afraid of causing panic by announcing that we had positive proof of the existence of alien life form.

Till this day we are no wiser as to what actually happened at Roswell more than sixty years ago.

What is certain is from that moment on; interest in the possibility of life on other planets became a major talking point among millions of people. People who were hungry for proof that we were not alone.

The late fifties saw the founding of NASA and the early nineteen sixties the earliest and most primitive space flights from both the USA and the USSR.
Known as the “space race” the competition between the two super powers when on at a fever pitch. It is fair to say that the Americans won the space race, when in 1969 they succeeded in landing a man on the moon and bringing him and his fellow astronauts back home safely to earth. Rumor has it that there are still quite a number of Russian space craft still orbiting the Earth bearing the remains of Soviet astronauts who didn’t manage to make it home.

Much as the Western World were proud of the country’s achievements in exploring the inner limits of outer space, there is still a certain disappointment that there was still no tangible contact with aliens from another planet as a result of all the risk, bravery, loss of life and huge investment put into the US space program.

There have been increased reports of sightings of UFO’s reported during the last five years. However cynics will rush to point out that these could be digitally altered fabrications, and certainly most of them appear to be.

Until the day dawns when positive and identifiable contact is made with members of another planetary race, the jury will be out on whether we are not along in the stratosphere. Yet it is hard to accept that we are the only ones here!
