Especially over the last ten years or so, more and more pictorial evidence is surfacing that only add to the controversy of whether there are other forms of life in our universe.
What is claimed by just about every one who takes an interest in the presence of UFO’s. When sightings of a possible flight of UFO’s flying low over Mexico were first reported on an undisclosed date in 2004, the Mexicans Authorities kept the film taken under wraps for some time. Eventually, in a dramatic turn around in policy, they decided to make public details of the incident and back it up with some video, which while it is basic and stark, certainly takes some explaining.
The incident occurred when a Merlin C26/A from the Mexican Air Force, tracking drug smugglers who were inclined to fly small private planes over the US border. They pilot and navigator thought that they had hit a truly major haul, when their infrared sensing device spotted what appeared to be a crew of up to eleven small planes, flying low and in convoy near the Mexican/US border.
Further examination showed that the lights in the sky were not coming from light aircraft, but instead from flying ships from another source that the Mexican pilots could not identify. One of the pilots had the presence of mind to film the objects from relatively close range. The results as shown below are without doubt the nearest thing that anyone might describe as an ascertainable specific sighting. In their starkness, they bear a strong resemblance to the films shot over many years by the NASA pilots on moon flights as well as on the shuttle voyages.

Mexican Air Force Pilots Film 11 UFOs
Whilst the Mexican authorities decided to cover up these finding for a year or so might be understandable, their decision in 2005 to make their findings public might not be. What the disclosure caused was an unprecedented wave of curiosity and interest among the Mexican public.
The story, backed up with the full video tape of the “encounter” was released to John Maussan, Mexico’s most prominent supporter of the presence of
UFO’s who is a well know TV show host in that country.
Not famous for his objective evaluations on the subject the existence of extraterrestrial life forms, Maussan’s sensationalism took a lot of the credibility away from the story, instead of adding to it.
In any event, the global press took hold of the story and it was broadcast consistently on the air and online through the major news channels.
Whilst the film itself was pretty bland, Maussan pulled out all the stops to create a verbal picture that would add some color to the whole affair.
The local TV channels that “leaked” the story and showed the film were literary besieged for days on end either supporting or decrying the story as a hoax.
Just as interest in the matter was about to peter out, a reasonable explanation to what the Mexican Pilot spotted and his infra red might have picked up began to surface.
The area where the “sightings” took place is also the location of several off shore oil wells. The area, known as the Bay of Campeche, is the center of the petroleum industry in the country, with around 200 wells active 24/7. Theorists conclude that what the sensors may have picked up were the rigs burning off fuel or possibly excesses of natural gas. This seems like a logical explanation although far from as exciting as John Maussan and other UFO enthusiasts would like to have us believe.
To many, the Mexico 2004 sightings remain of great interest to this day. Fabrications they certainly are not, oil rig burn offs they might well be, but until someone comes up with a 100% fool proof explanation, the arguments and discussion will continue to rage on.
